Academic Scheduling Process

Academic Scheduling Process

In the spring of each school year, the academic scheduling process begins to schedule students into appropriate academic courses for the following year. This information is designed to give insight into the scheduling process at Ridgeview.

Levels of Courses Ridgeview Offers

Ridgeview believes that each student deserves the opportunity to take challenging courses that meet their needs. In core academic classes -- math, science, English language arts, and social studies -- Ridgeview offers a variety of placements:

  • On-level
  • Advanced
  • Talented & Gifted (TAG)
  • Accelerated (mathematics only)

Rising 6th Grade Students

Your child's current 5th grade teachers will use the district placement guidelines to recommend courses for the upcoming school year. Initial placements are based on semester one grades and may change at the end of the year. You will be notified of these recommendations and have the opportunity to ask questions and request adjustments. Questions or concerns about placement should be addressed to the current elementary school and teacher(s).

Rising 7th and 8th Grade Students

Your child's current Ridgeview teachers will use the district placement guidelines to recommend courses for the upcoming school year. Initial placements are based on semester one grades and may change at the end of the year. You will be notified of these recommendations and have the opportunity to ask questions and request adjustments.

Rising 9th Grade Students

If your student is currently an 8th grader and will be attending Riverwood International Charter School the next fall, we recommend that you visit their website to review their scheduling information and requirements.  Our teachers will make recommendations for rising 9th grade students based upon guidance from the scheduling team at Riverwood.
